Working with teeny tiny pieces of jewelry has been a challenge compared to the larger-scale stuff, because it requires the use of a macro lens or macro function to *really* focus on the detail, while still having a tiny “f stop” so there is a romantic blur on whatever isn’t the focus (such as a chain or far side of a ring band).
Other things I’ve learned: how pretty diamonds look against a “tuxedo shirt.” Also important is to include a coin (my colleague Justin likes dimes and I agree) for scale when needed.
